Before I went into labor, I had never been admitted to a hospital, let alone admitted for five days with a sick newborn. The experience should have been devastating and traumatic. It turned out to be exactly the opposite.  I labored at home from Saturday afternoon until early Sunday morning.  By Sunday morning, my contractions were about three minutes apart and my husband and I knew it was “go time.”  Since I’d been checked by the doctors and nurses on Saturday night, they were expecting us when we showed up on Sunday.  They got me right into a labor and delivery room, and immediately started their excellent care.
